our environment, and each other. In this class we will draw from the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic
relationship to earth/gravity and space/antigravity.
In this workshop you will:
• Experience a Feldenkrais awareness through movement lesson
• Connect to the ongoingness of the breath and the resonance of the ground /earth
• Explore how inner landscape of sensation activates our movement and moves us into connection
with our environment and each other
• Engage in playful movement dialogues—Have a great time!
• Share and be witnessed in collaborative heart-centered environment.
As we grow our internal awareness, somatic imagery and physical pathways emerge, strengthening our
connection to all that is within and around us. Moving becomes more easeful and arises from organic
desire and intention. We come into greater presence in our environment and in relationship to others.
This class is open to all levels and experience
The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Awareness
Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist and engineer, who became an innovator and pioneer in the field of
Somatics, developed a system of integrated movement, body awareness, and hands on lessons. In
curing his “incurable” knees, Moshe found that by engaging the nervous system he could help people
improve movement and body function. This process is explored in Awareness through Movement
lessons, where we discover tools to access kinesthetic information that might normally go under the
radar of our moving mind. When we move slowly in non-habitual patterns, we release excess muscle
tension and discover new movement possibilities. By directing our awareness to sensation, weight, our
perception and the quality of our movement, we open to new pathways of self-expression. We become
more available to ourselves and our capacity to move with full-embodied presence.
