Susan Emmet Reid
Susan is a Continuum practitioner and a movement-based artist working in multi-media. She has
development of new works for the theater and created mothercourage, an original performance
piece for Theater Grottesco. She directed the Santa Fe premiere of Sight Unseen, Donald
Margulies’ award-winning meditation on artistic identity, and most recently, Our Grace by Jane
embodied myth and ceremony. Susan will present her video piece:
OMNE EX OVO (everything comes from the egg) explores our liquid origins and their relationship
to the embryonic motif as a re-enactment ritual of birth, renewal, remembrance and knowing. The
egg/body metaphor speaks to the dissolving of our cultural perspective — moving from the
mechanical and utilitarian to the cyclical and fluid — and acts as a signpost directing us to a
personal inner landscape. The possibility of new, un-patterned and innovative information in both
the private and public realms becomes available as we reclaim the direct experience of our sensing
bodies and allow our own fluid systems to become our guide.
