CHI GUNG
Resting into movement allows for physical ease and vital alignment. The deeper the
stillness, the more internal rest. Learn to move with a foundation of smooth fluidity,
providing an awareness of anatomy and more importantly, a sense of the internal flows
(sometimes called Chi). The more that movement and activity is effortless, the more it
can then be efficient and fast.
Other benefits include the ability to relax the body and mind, reduce stress, boost athletic
and intellectual performance, prevent illness and injuries, improve sexual functioning, and
slow or reverse the degeneration of aging.
CHI GUNG offers strength, preventative health and longevity. This form of movement
exercise from the East sprung originally from martial arts, and the many methods were
developed for their restorative qualities, known for moving energy and resolving health
issues. Teri learned these ancient Chinese practices transmitted in the oral tradition
from master to stutent. The following are a few of the many ways to refine one's body,
emotions, mental and psychic energy en route to becoming a balanced individual. See
below for more detail on the classes and individual sessions Teri leads:
- BODY OPENING EXERCISE:
- Created by visionary Su Dong Chen, this complete fitness system uses body dynamics and
principles of physics to build one's physical potential. The Body Opening method lays a strong foundation for both health maintenance and self defense. Cultivating awareness and clear intention in this sequence of movement brings fluid strength and helps unwrap joint, pain and alignment issues. Muscles and tissues become more elastic as the total body is addressed. Developing a deep understanding of how you embody space through movement, encourages relaxation and body tensegrity.

- 8 STANDING BROCADES:
- Stemming from the Huashan Mountains, Kwan Sai Hung has a multitude of movement and
meditation methods and has shared some of his vast rescources with individuals in the West. Teri studied briefly with Master Kwan, learning several medical Chi Gung forms, over the course of one year. The 8 Standing Brocades is a sequence of eight movements that help with the body's digestion, elimination and circulation. Breath and unique gestures create opportunity for increased flexibility in muscles, organs, vessels and joints.

- DRAGON & TIGER:
- Originating from a Water Taoist method, this practice comes from the lineage of B.K. Frantzis
and Liu Hung Chieh. Dragon & Tiger is a medical form of Chi Gung that works with the external bio-energy of the body. This sequence of seven movements uses breath and unique gestures to activate the meridian channels, moving through groups of yang and yin meridians during each movement. Moves such as twisting, flicking, smoothing and bending help provide suppleness in joints and prevent stagnation and disease.

- MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN & EARTH:
- Originating from a Water Taoist method, this practice comes from the lineage of B.K. Frantzis
and Liu Hung Chieh. This Chi Gung practice belongs to the same Taoist nei gung school of energy arts as Tai Chi. Marriage of Heaven and Earth and Circling Hands is very accessible, requiring only one or two simple physical motions that are relatively easy to learn. This practice offers an entry program to Chi Gung and other energy practices, offering a more simple opening to internal energies.

- OPENING THE ENERGY GATES:
- Originating from a Water Taoist method, this practice comes from the lineage of B.K. Frantzis
and Liu Hung Chieh. Beginning with the standing meditation, this method develops internal power via body mechanics, transforming alignment and dissolving the energy gates located in various stations and joints of the body. The outer dissolving technique releases physical, emotional and mental blocks. The Cloud Hands exercise helps to root the lower body, involving the arms and legs in forward, backward, up and down motions, and includes all of tai chi's twisting, turning, bending, and lengthening motions, as well as shifts of weight.

|
- LONGEVITY BREATHING:
- Originating from a Water Taoist method, this practice comes from the lineage of B.K. Frantzis
and Liu Hung Chieh. This breathing method promotes smooth and consistent breath, where by an individual can increase lung capacity and the length of each breath. Potentially, one inhalation and exhalation can last for minutes. The implications offer long life possibilities. With deep circular breathing, the inhalation and exhalation are given equal attention. The nervous system learns to relax, offering mental and emotional balance along with detoxification and immune benefits.
