 | | CONTINUUM MOVEMENT
|
- Founded by Emilie Conrad in 1967, Continuum is a movement practice that recognizes the body as a fluid
resonating system. The use of sound, breath, vibration, slowing down, micro and wave motion, enlivens the bio-connection of our body tissues in resonance with the cosmic electro-magnetic Field. Recognizing that our first order experience is kinesthetic, we can use the cell and embryo as templates for the silent experience before higher language and higher faculties develop. Our spirilic and spreading nature unfolds in harmony with the integrity of the galactic spiral.
- "The fluid system is resonant with no time and space differential. It goes beyond the boundary of the
body. It functions in the body but is not confined to it. Humans are in a phase shift in terms of our own body development... we're communicating far beyond the world or words... It is a basic primal connection which is unifying... we are always longing for this connection. Organismic recognition takes place, relaying that we are spiraled water and we come in like that as embryos. Continuum Movement is a unique inquiry into our capacity to innovate and participate with the essential, generative, and biological movement processes of life." Emilie Conrad

 | | BODY-MIND CENTERING
|
- Body-Mind Centering® (BMC) is an integrative approach to transformation through movement re-education
and hands-on repatterning. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, it is an experiential study based on the embodiment and application of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical and developmental principles, utilizing movement, touch, voice and mind. This study leads to an understanding of how the mind is expressed through the body and the body through the mind.
- The study of BMC is a creative process in which we learn to meet and recognize ourselves and others
through the exploration of embodiment. It is an ongoing, experiential journey into the alive and changing territory of the body. The explorer is the mind—our thoughts, feelings, energy, soul, and spirit. Through this journey we are led to an understanding of how the mind is expressed through the body in movement.
- Nature has a tendancy to form patterns. We, as part of nature, also form patterns. The mind is like the
wind and the body is like the sand; if you want to know how the wind is blowing, you can look at the sand. Our body moves as our mind moves. The qualities of any movement are a manifestation of how mind is expressing through the body at that moment. Changes in movement qualities indicate that the mind has shifted focus in the body. Conversely, when we direct the mind or attention to different areas of the body and initiate movement from those areas, we change the quality of our movement. In BMC, "centering" is a process of balancing, not a place of arrival. This balancing is based on an ongoing dialogue, and the dialogue is based on experience.
- An important aspect of our journey in BMC is awakening to Sensation. In Teri's classes and hands-on
sessions we discover the relationship between the smallest level of activity within the body and the largest movement of the body— aligning the inner cellular movement with the external expression of movement through space. This involves identifying, articulating, and integrating the various tissues within the body (such as bones, muscles, organs, joints, fluids, etc., and discovering the qualities they contribute to one's movement, how they have evolved in one's developmental process, and the role they play in the expression of mind.

 | | AUTHENTIC based MOVEMENT
|
- Originated by a number of practitioners, Authentic Movement allows spontaneous freedom of expression.
One can develop kinesthetic awareness, gaining access and giving creative expression to the inner life via the expression of the personality, made visible through movement.
- In an Authentic based Movement session with Teri, movers shut their eyes and are free to move in any way
they choose, liberated from the pressure to 'perform' in any particular way, while Teri holds the space and observes nonjudgementally in order to reflect back to the mover(s) the recollection of 'being and moving', affirming the mover's rightful place within an appreciative and rich sensual experience of reality.

 | | LABAN / BARTENIEFF Principles
|
- Originated by Rudolf Laban, the principles of Laban Space Harmony offer a keen awareness of moving in
three dimensional space in relationship to one's environment. Teri studied Laban Analysis and Bartenieff Fndamentals in college, yet she gained a deeper understanding in her studies with visionary Robert Ellis Dunn, a master teacher of Laban Space Harmony and an original founder of the Judson Church Post Modern movement.
- This system is advantageous for people from all walks of life. Both Laban Analysis and Bartenieff
Fundamentals offer a system for finding ease of movement in alignment with one's surroundings. An ideal tool for actors, dancers and performers of all types, it can increase an individual's sense of stage presence and spacing, informing one's gestures and movements with clarity and skill.
